KLARINET READERS:

ClarinetFest '98 was a hugh success. Chuck West's kudos to host James
Pyne and his excellent staff said it well. I found the posts repeated
below curious since the exhibit area received heavy traffic. All makes
of clarinets were represented. In fact, Frank Hammerschmidt 's clarinets
(German and French systems) were played at a special lecture/recital on
Wednesday, entitled "The Hammerschmidt Tradition" featuring Jozsef
Balogh from Budapest, Hungary, Manfred Preis from the Berlin
Philharmonic, Johannes Gleichweit from the Radio Symphony of Vienna, and
Harald Harrer from Leopold Mozart University.

Basset clarinets AND basset horns were in abundance and were played by
Eric Hoeprich, Lisa Klevit and William McColl and others.

If you missed this ClarinetFest - you missed one of our best yet. Make
plans for 1999 and Ostend, Belgium. You won't be disappointed.

CHEERS!

I'm curious to know if all the clarinet makers were represented... I
know there were at least three Rossi's, myself (on a cocobolo English
bore) and two rosewoods. (there may have been more but the grenadilla
ones blend into the crowd) I assume there were lots of Buffets, Leblancs
and Selmers, but did anyone notice if there was a Wurlitzer,
Hammerschmidt, Patricola, etc?
