Sorry I hit the send button prematurly. I belive there are lots of things to
be gained at a festival like this. My good friend and collegue Cathy Ogram was
runner up in the orchestra audition contest. She was amazed at the diference,
the judges felt about her " Sound". Maybe a "tone" and "sound" discussion is
in order for the fest or on these boards. Personaly I'm amazed so many
clarinetists are going to great lenths to get all the overtones out of their
sound. What is "Dark", How dark is "Too Dark"?
Then you have Ivo Papaslov, I guess his sound might be clasified as kinda
"bright", but not for bulgarian wedding music. Maybe not even for Weber? So
lets sit down and ask those really difficult questions! I'll even kick it off.
If Giora Fiedman plays Gershwin, Is it Klezmer?????? Soon to be the artist
formerly know as Sarge, Tom Puwalski
