A deep, heartfelt thanks to James Pyne and the staff and faculty at
The Ohio State University for last week's convention. Take it from a
former convention coordinator--this eats a whole year of someone's
life! Jim, you were marvelous, and thank you from all of us.

And there are other heros from last week's convention whose praises
have not been sung nearly enough. To Hild Peersen, the whole
profession owes you deep gratitude not only for your careful
attention to every administrative detail, but for your cheerful
outlook on the whole thing. To Tony Costa who really managed all the
big stuff in the performances, you were a trooper and we all
appreciate your caring attitude and the sacrifice you made. And to
Jane Ellsworth whose handling of the symposium was so smooth that we
really thought you had been doing it since childhood, our deepest
gratitude.

There are many other heros. You guys who are students at OSU and did
the grunt work, you made great sacrifices and still put together a
beautiful clarinet choir performance for your own group on Saturday
morning.

It's mind-boggling when we stop and think about the tremendous
personal sacrifice putting together such a convention really is--all
the complaints and criticism these people hear, and how little thanks
and even less remuneration they receive. Thanks to all, and
congratulations!
