Most of that moisture is condensation rather than spit at that point. And to
suck out from under a pad, you don't have to actually suck it into your mouth,
just inhale sharply to get it out from under the pad.

I like to suck it out mostly so that I'm not blowing the water into the spring
mechanisms behind the pads. Over time this would help to rust those springs
faster than necessary.
