In reference to a topic that was up many months ago, about radio
stations closing down in major cities...

well, I'm now back in Montreal, Canada, and I tuned the radio to what I
thought was the regular old CBC station, and after a while of listening
I noticed it was not. As it turns out, it is a brand new all
"classical" music station. There are no commercial announcements, I
haven't heard them announce very many of the piece names or performers
or record labels, but there's music on almost all the time, except for
some prerecorded announcements about the new station.

What's so great is that, where in most major cities classical music
stations are disappearing, here we not only had more than what most
people were saying they received in major cities, but we get a new one.
That brings our total of 4 stations playing "classical" music. We get
CBC in both English and French (both quite different stations), plus
Vermont Public Radio (a lot of NPR programming) and now this new
station, which is also French, but there's so little talking, it makes
little difference.

So just some good news, and to say that I feel very lucky to have so
many stations available to me. I make as much use of them as possible.
