The biggest problem I encountered when I started playing an Eb soprano
clarinet was I would squeak--inexplicably, because I never squeak on my Bb
clarinet. Turns out, the base of my right hand index finger was just brushing
the Bb trill key, opening it ever so slightly. I now balance the Eb closer to
the tip of my thumb and all is well. You will find that the keys on the Eb are
so small that it takes a bit of getting used to. You will see what I mean when
you first hold one.
