+AHw-Back in my young ignorant years as a hight school clarinetist, I only used
standard Rico Reeds. I was using
+AHw-number 4's at the time. My mother would get them for me for 25 cents a
piece or five for a dollar. I didn't know
+AHw-anything about reed care other than shaving a little of the back with a
razor blade, if it was to heavy+ADs- or having
+AHw-my teacher clip it when it got to soft. At one time, during a tuning
session in an All State Band, the conductor stopped
+AHw-when I played my tuning note and said, +ACI-That's what a Clarinet should sound
like+ACI-. I was also using a stock
+AHw-mouthpiece. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. I did keep my mouthpiece clean
and would not play on broken reeds.

Jay,

That's definately a knife in the back of those who consistantly say how you
must buy this mouthpiece or you must use that brand of reed to get the best
tone.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. :-)
