No flame, just complete agreement, including your reason for the
preference. Although I have done significant amounts of singing in my
life, once I picked up the clarinet my preference for instrumental music
was dramatically increased. Both of my daughters, who were turned off by
poor teaching in junior high band and switched into choir (where they
thrived), argue with my choice of music in the car, etc., because they want
music "with words!"
