Some time ago I advertized an Amati low C Boehm system bass clarinet for
sale, this is now available. It is in great shape, having no major
flaws; the low Eb is duplicated to the right thumb, and the low D, C#
and C are all for the right thumb and are very, very well designed and
light to the touch. There is a left hand Ab-Eb touch as well. The
mechanism for choosing vent holes is more solid and secure than on my
Buffet Prestige. It plays wonderfully and could be a new instrument,
includes original paperwork and warranty card, etc. I am keeping the
mouthpiece, for my own use on my Buffets. I can provide a mpc if the
prospective purchaser needs one.
Amati is not Buffet Prestige, but I know that and will price it
accordingly; this horn plays quite nicely and will serve you well. If
you play in the Cleveland Orchestra, get a Selmer or Buffet. Otherwise,
this horn will be very, very good for you and will save you a ton of
money.
Actually, I own an ancient Buffet bass clarinet that was used for two
years in the Cleveland Orchestra, this Amati has a bigger sound in the
low register. But I'm not Lynneia Nereim nor Al Zetser!, so the
comparison is tenuous.
Please reply privately if interested.
