the trouble is that miscreantsoft stuff is so prone to this sort of
abuse that the naive user is easily frightened into promulgating any
such message.

we should not shout at the carriers of these hoaxes, since they're
usually as innocent as anyone. (not that anyone seems to have
shouted, that i've seen, in this instance.)

why would anyone want to send out such a silly hoax in the first
place? -- presumably to gloat at other people's gullibility, and in so
doing waste yet more net bandwidth and people's time (of the bits that
are not taken up with spam).

ah well, it takes all sorts, i suppose. i just wish some of them
would go away and boil their heads...
