I am thinking about buying the music for the Brahms Clarinet Quintet
with piano reduction. Before I do I would like to know if this piece
sounds OK with piano or is this one which should really only be
performed with the strings. I have been told that the Mozart Quintet
is regarded favourably with piano. I would have thought a good
pianist should be able to be a resonable substitute for a string
quartet. At least he/she could get all the notes in unlike in an
orchestral reduction.
