Hi. I just signed on and wanted to say hello to everyone.

I'm a music hobbyist (mandolin, guitar) who recently bought a wooden
Bundy in decent shape at a swap meet (looks a lot more like Al than
Kelly, I'm afraid, but it works ;->). I bought a maintenance kit
and a beginners book at a music store, and I'm soaking up as much as
I can in my copious free time :-|. I've been having trouble
locating a broad-scope FAQ-style document on the 'net. Maybe it
doesn't exist, but maybe you can send me off in the right direction.

I played alto sax for a little while in school (>15 yrs), so I was
able to get note-like sounds out of the thing pretty quickly. What I
don't remember are things like how to store reeds between practices,
what exactly should I be doing to maintain the instrument, and
similar "oh my God he doesn't even know _______" kinds of questions.

Here's another topic of inquiry: Who is on line in the Clarinet
community? On the CoMando (mandolin) mailing list, which has a
subscription list in the 700 range, there are players, from
professionals to hobbyists, as well as many custom builders of
mandolins. The age range is broad, but it seems to be older than
average. What about the clarinet? I've run across two
great websites, the fine sneezy.org site (of course) and
George Klimowicz' site at http://www.execpc.com/~klimowic/
That appears to be the high point - have I missed anything?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to having fun with this, and thanks for
listening.
