Hello all! I have to pick your brains for a while... I acquired a really
old clarinet and was wanting to know a little bit more about it. It's a
wooden Henri Farny. No serial number or anything of the such. The only
markings it has are that of the maker (Henri Farny et cie, Paris, Modele
Superieur), Bb (for obvious reasons), and LP, meaning (I guess) Low
Pitch.

As far as physical design, it only has 3 side trill keys, 2 "pinky" keys
(for lack of better term) at the bottom, 2 keys at the left hand side,
in addition to the C#/G# key. The upper joint has no key hole rings, the
bottom only has two at the middle and ring finger position. It has the
sliver keys, and also a register key that wraps around the instrument.
Everything is in working order other than the register key which needs
a new spring. It is also in need of new corks all around... But other
than that it is very beautiful. Even came with mouthpiece, ligature, and
mouthpiece cap!!

The closest estimate I've gotten of it is that it's "turn of the
century" and that it was probably an old military band instrument. (??)

So if anyone could shed some light on this for me it would be MOST
appreciated. Thanks bunches!! ~~Haley :)
