I do agree with another posting where Leroy Anderson's craft as a
composer and orchestrator was admired. He was after all a well schooled
musician, having studied with Piston and Enesco. I do feel that his
works are quality works that serve exactly the purpose they were meant
to, as lighter pieces for the orchestra. As to being hokey, I feel that
the only reason that they may seem so to some is that they are somewhat
evocative of the time period in which they were written. I for one have
found that they can be counted on to bring a smile to an audiences face.
I consider them to be great Americana, much like the work of Norman
Rockwell, who might seem hokey in this day and age.

Regarding playing a work many times over the years- Imagine the number
of times Drucker has played any work!!! and on the same instrument :)
