And I've got a (probably) 35 year old recording of Rafael Mendez & sons
playing Bugler's Holiday - and it's as pleasing today as it was when I first
heard it (my mother gave me a number of old LPs that I had coveted for a
long time - including a number of Burl Ives and old Belafonte recordings).
The Leroy Anderson tunes remind me of Zez Confree tunes - boring if not
played well because of the repetition, but pleasing when variation is added
in tempo & dynamics. I know something about this - my 13 year old plays a
lot of Confree & Anderson (both trumpet and piano works :^) Hearing Dizzy
Fingers for the umpteenth time will drain you (but _what_ a crowd pleaser!)

Cheers,
Mark C.
