Read Chris' post again. He says Buffet WAS promenaded around. The Buffet
people themselves didn't do it, just the players. Reading this list, one
gets the impression that if someone showed up for an orchestral audition
playing anything OTHER than a Buffet, they would stare at him like he was
from Mars!

Don't get me wrong. I agree that it indeed IS a matter of personal
preference. But Buffet clearly has the upper hand lately. I play a Selmer
myself and have no intention of changing (I like it's powerful and "dark"
sound), although recent Buffet and Yamaha clarinets I have tried lately are
quite fine (Nothing against Leblanc -- I just haven't played one since the
very nice bass I played in college).
