Don,
When I was an under grad. their were several "older" students in my classes.
Many of us learned a lot from their experiences and greatly appreciated them.
One guy in particular was a retired Dentist who came back to school to get a
music ed. degree. Also one of my Prof. didn't start playing an instrument
until she was 18. She now has a DMA and is one of the up and coming Saxophone
teachers. I wish you good luck and I hope you go for it. If you really want
to learn more about music there isn't any better way then to go to school and
study it seriously.
