Buffet (Boosey & Hawkes actually) has marketing? Well, they have
advertisements, catalogs, and salespeople. With M. Kloc on board they are
trying to improve their reputation for delivering quality instruments in
the US. But marketing?

There are at least five professional lines of Buffet soprano clarinets
(R-13, RC, Festival, Elite, and DG) plus variations (prestige, greenline,
vintage). If we could trot down to our local music store and try them all
out we could make our own decision. My local store has nothing but R-13s
and an occasional Festival and that is probably more than most local
stores.
So you pick out the best instrument you can find, but end up still
wondering if you have done the right thing. Better to spend your time
practicing than worrying, I suppose. But when you calculate the number of
hours you spend playing the instrument, it make sense to get something you
are completely happy with.

I think Buffet should simplify its line (who plays Elite and DG anyway?)
and try for some useful innovations like improving the throat Bb and middle
line B.
