Well . . . . I have to smile when I read David Frank's quote of my
program note. And I'm very flattered at his comment about the
playing, thank you Mr. Frank.

However, I confess to the clarinet world that I found no information
about this composer or the piece and, being under a time deadline,
composed some [unfortunately superficial] description of the piece
and sent it in for publication. John Denman used to play that piece
a lot, and he tends to know a good bit about these old virtuoso
"chestnuts," so maybe he would be a good resource. But my
scholarship on this point smacks of an all-too-near deadline and all-
too-little time, and I beg the clarinet world's forgiveness.

Now on the other hand, Grayson Wagstaff's liner notes on a new CD
just out, with Roger Drinkall and Dian Baker with the D'Indy,
Muczynsky and Brahms trios with piano and cello are magnificent.
It's Klavier KCD11088, and the liner notes alone are worth it, and
it's the only CD recording in existnence of the Muczynski Fantasy
Trio.

Sorry about the Erwinn, world. I'll try harder next time (or better
yet, quit writing my own program notes)! See you in Columbus!

Chuck West
