I know that this may seem like an odd question, but I recently
acquired a Leblanc low C bass (#13979), and it seems physically LONGER
than the other low C's I've played. I don't have a Buffet or Selmer
nearby to compare, but is this true? I should also mention that I'm 5'7"
and have never had a problem playing Selmer or Buffet extended range
instruments. With this Leblanc (which, incidentally has a Bay neck), I
can't sit in a regular music chair and play comfortably. Does anyone
here use a stool or a seat cushion?
My other question concerns octave mechanisms. For the past two
years, I've been playing a '71 Selmer Paris bass with double register
holes. This Leblanc has one, and the upper register sounds very stuffy.
Is this characteristic of the Leblanc brand? I guess I'm used to having
a more open sound with the Selmer.
