That is true of much band music and that is the music which I refuse to
program, (or even sight-read if I can help it), but It's certainly not true
of all music written for band! I must admit, however, that the music you
are referring to is that music that I refer to as "band music". It's the
marches, (most of them), the folk music arrangements, the pop music
arrangements, the Broadway Musicals, etc. But you can't deny that music by
Persichetti, Dello Joio, Camphouse, Krenek, Nixon, Gillingham, Boysen, Mahr,
Bach organ transcriptions, and much more are also very worthwhile music!
