My advice is to go with a used Buffet or Selmer proline. The Buffet
student bass plays very nicely, but the fingers on the thing are way
wacky.

I'm not impressed by LeBlanc basses. I've played mostly old ones, and the
few new ones I've played, I didn't like the tuning.

Another option is Yamaha - nice, not too expensive. Even the nonpro line
is nice, and I reccomend it over the LeBlanc pro line. (Sorry Chris, but
you know how I am.)

(Don't have all the numbers and stuff memorized yet. Heh.)
