Hi Mark:

Most composers are very open to different interpretations of their music. I
can't remember which performer or composer it was but, upon hearing his work
played differently than he had envisioned it, the composer remarked, "Yes,
it goes like that too."

It has always seemed to me that, after SUFFICIENT study of music AND
SUFFICIENT study of a particular piece, (including listening to different
interpretations of the piece), you get to the point where you feel that the
music is "yours". Then, you try to decide how YOU think it should go. A
sincere, thoughtful and sensitive musician can hardly go wrong after such
careful analysis.
