I've heard many Weber 2nd concerto recordings and tempos vary from performer
to performer. Most take the 1st mvt. between quarter note = 112-120 and the
last movement around 112. I have come to the conslusion that anyone who takes
tempos as slow as 108 for the first and 100 for the last movement, is not very
good - at least from the recordings I've experienced. I highly doubt Weber
marked those slow tempos and probably left it up to Baerman to play at
whatever speed he wanted. A good tempo for the 1st mvt. is 120-126 and the
last is good between 112-120. Some players may disagree with those tempos but
the concerto IS a Romantic virtuoso showpiece! Charles Neidich has a great
recording of Webers concertos and plays them very light and fast with
improvised cadenzas.
