I had the privilege of choosing a grand piano for our church this fall.
After several weeks and lots of dealers' lectures about how their pianos
were made and how all the others are inferior, we narrowed our choices to
Baldwin, Yamaha, and Kawai. I have always liked the Yamaha's touch, so I
leaned toward that one. However, we ultimate chose the Kawai--it has a
beautiful tone and touch.
You're right--it's like choosing a clarinet--which one do you personally
prefer--which one works for you. We are lucky to have many fine brands
to choose from.
