Whereas sound and projection may be fine, tuning may be seriously out of
whack. In my experience, Selmer/LeBlanc set ups will turn the throat
tones (of any clarinet) very noticably flat - even more noticably on the
harmony clarinets. I'm not making a total blanket statement, but from
playing experience I've had, and from listening to a lot of players at
solo competitions, I've found this to be generally true. The upper
chalameau usually goes sharp, and the lowest notes...well...they can go
either way. Same with Buffet/LeBlanc set ups. LeBlanc mpcs on Buffet
horns isn't good, but Buffet mpcs on LeBlanc horns is worse. (Especially
on the alto clarinet and bass clarinet.) Selmer/Buffet isn't too bad -
it's not something you'd WANT to do...but if you're talented in lip
service, you can probably hack it.

Like I said, these observations are from my experience, and from observing
other (learning) players.
