|Mr. Hausmann,
|I think this was a very rude way for you to respond to my post.
|While it may not be completely right, I see no problem with college
|educators buying expensive instruments through their school.
|Especially with departmental authorization. If I could save $6000 on a
|contra clarinet, and the option was there, I'd most likely do it.
|Yes, prices for other instruments are high too, but $15,000-$20,000 for
|an instrument that will most likely never play a lick of melody in its
|life? I'll take the discount. ...no fraud here.
|Some mail order companies allow the same percentage discounts for
|teachers as they do for schools. This was basically what I was talking
|about in the first place, not fraud.

Though this message was not directed at me, I agree with Bill. There is
somethign seriously wrong with doing it this way. The whole point behind the
educators discount is that the instrument maker or retailer expects it to be
used by the school or educational institution for their purposes, not so
they can become a third party retailer.

Another example would be for someone to ask a military person to get a
military discount at the local movie theatre for tickets to a show later
that night, but for you, not them. You get the discount, and abuse the
entire system. Lesser example, but an example nonetheless.

There is a reason that these companies have these "educator" and "military"
discounts. And it's not because they have nothing better to do but
overcharge folks. Ever think they may be doing it to help people out who've
helped our country and our world. Educators help shape the future of our
world. Military help keep our world safe. In my mind, they deserve the
discounts and handouts and all the help they can get, because they are doing
the job that can never be repaid.

I'm sure many people may not feel it is fraud to do this. But it's
definately not fair to the teachers who taught us, the soldiers who died for
us, and the companies trying to help out those who did that already.
