Leidzen's band transcription of Dvorak's New World Symphony Finale includes
several nasty exposed altissimo G#'s, marked p, although those are not the most
difficult passages in the transcription by any means. I consider myself a
talented amateur, but this piece is a real technical challenge for me.

Sousa's Semper Fidelis March, being in concert C, includes a pair of altissimo
A's. That's as high as I've ever encountered in band music.

The problem here is that I don't use these notes often enough to remember the
fingerings; every time we get these pieces up, I have to whip out the chart.

I have a theory that Sousa's wife must have been a piccolo player who had an
affair with a clarinet player, and Sousa decided to punish both of them in his
marches.
