I really like the Optimum Lig. You get three interchangeable pressure
plates that contact the reed in different positions, thereby allowing you
to adjust to the sound, style, and musical piece you're performing, as
quoted from the brochure. I usually stick with plate #1 which puts
pressure vetically along the fiber of the reed. Plate #2 puts pressure
horizontally across the reed and plate #3 only contacts the reed in 4
points, allowing for greater flexibility in sound, for jazz. It also has a
single double track screw for easy, even tightening. I also think that it
looks nice. It is on the heavy side, though, and I would guard against
dropping it, as it is easily deformed. If you have the money, I think that
it is worth a try. (No, I don't work for Vandoren, but their stuff works
for me and is available here in Norway).

I am still curious about the B45. mpc. Anybody else ever play on one?
