Subj: [kl] Rovner ligature

I use a Rovner at the moment, and do find it very nice. With the
Rovners, please beware! There was discussion on this group a little
while ago about the Rovners. Me and several other players found that
the screw on the ligature creates scratches and even *grooves* on the
back of the mouthpiece. This problem, however, does not happen to
everyone, probably because of the mp setup. (I use a Vandoren M13 with
V12's, and I guess my Rovner is too small.) We concluded that this
probably doesn't change the sound at all. I am planning on buying a new
ligature anyways--I want to try that vertical tightening system with the
Vandoren Optimum ligatures. Still kind of disappointed about the
grooves from the Rovner on my brand new M13....Anyone know if I can get
that filled in or something?

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will give it a try. Do you know anything about
the
Rovner (sp) ligature? I saw one today in the music store and wondered
about
the quality.
