WARNING---Flames Ahead!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Matt: You are the one who needs to check your sources for advice on mpcs
and reeds, NOT Shouryu!!

<<<<<<<Rico reeds are no less consistant than Vandorens>>>>>>>

On what planet???!!!!! If you know as much about reeds as you think, then you
are aware that Rico makes 6 types of clarinet reeds: Grand Concert
Select(regular and thick blank), Mitchell Lurie (regular and premium), Rico
Royal, LaVoz, Rico, and Rico Plasticover. The best cane is used for the best
reeds--each time a piece of cane doesn't meet the standard, it gets moved down
to the next level, i.e. if it isn't good enough for Mitchell Lurie, it gets
made into a Rico Royal; if it isn't good enough for a RRoyal, it gets made
into a LaVoz, etc. Guess what is at the bottom of the list?---RICO!!!!! You
can call Marcus Ely at Rico International and check my facts, if you like. Of
course, for contra reeds, according to Marcus, they can't be very selective at
all, because the piece of cane has to be so huge. Vandoren, on the other
hand, REFUSES to make contra reeds if they don't have cane that passes their
standards, which are very high.(You can call D'Addario in NY to check on this
fact as well). That's why they list at $11 a piece!

<<<<<<<<You may find that many more educated Eb contra players use filed
Rico reeds rather than Vandorens for mouthpieces proportion and
intonation reasons.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

What, have you done a survey of contra players? Can we see this survey? How
many did you find--3? And how many EDUCATED ones did you ask? ;)
btw,EDUCATED contra players don't refer to themselves as Eb or Bb
players---they play both contras, of course, as well as all of the other
members of the clarinet family!

<<<<<<<<Bundy Eb Contra mouthpieces are not to be sniffed at. They are more
consistant than those of other makers and cost significantly less>>>>>>>>>

Yes, we ALL know that educated clarinetists use Bundy mouthpieces!!!!!!!
PUH-leze! Have you measured these mpcs? What other makers' mpcs are they
better than? I'll take a nice Leblanc hard rubber contra mpc over ANY Bundy
any day!

You throw out just as many statements as Shouryu, and I don't see you backing
any of them up with hard facts. And then you call him flaky!!!
Shouryu is one of the nicest and most helpful people on this list, as well as
being the funniest by far! He's the first one to try to help hs kids who have
questions, and I've found his advice to be generally well-informed and
comprehensive. It takes a lot for me to get annoyed enough to flame someone
like this, but you went too far, Matt!
I think it was your condescending tone that irked me the most--there are too
many really educated people on this list for anyone to be talking down to
anyone else.
