Well, I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree here and move on. I simply do not find anything in your argument to change my belief that the B45's specifications make it inappropriate as a student mouthpiece -- unless the student's embochure is already pretty well developed and the B45 "fits" given that embochure, the player's other equipment, physical characteristics, etc. IMHO (or, if you prefer, NSHO), replacing one ill-suited
mouthpiece with another, even if it is made of hard rubber and costs more, is not an improvement. Nor, BTW, am I aware of any studies done that provide evidence to support the assertion that, given a Rico 2.5 reed, a B45 is superior in general to a Bundy. (Perhaps such a study exists and I have not seen it. If so, I could be convinced to change my mind.)
