Be careful how you ship it. UPS thoroughly damaged my Selmer 37 bass
clarinet upon return from Clark, and they only reimbursed for me for
repair of the damage after I threatened them with a lawsuit. Person-
ally, I prefer FedEx, cost notwithstanding. Also, for anybody shipping
a large instrument like a bass or contra, don't ship it inside its case.
The material inside the case is fairly rigid, and one good drop of
the box will jam the instrument against the inside of the case and
bend keys. The better method is to wrap each component individually
in large bubble wrap and ship the bubble-wrapped components "loose"
inside a box full of styrofoam peanuts/popcorn. The bubble wrap
will cushion each component, and the peanuts will prevent any
sudden impacts if the box is accidentally dropped.
