Neither, Lori. It is for Basset Horn. There has never been
any music by Beethoven for Basset clarinet. The Prometheus solo
is one of the best. It was always hard to get to play it because
no one does anything from Prometheus except for the overture.
And if anything at all was done, it generally excuded the
basset horn/oboe duet because it is number 15 in the order of
selections and nos. 1-14 are great numbers too. I did the piece
about 5 or 6 times over the 25 years that I owned basset horns
and it was always a knockout.
