I usually replace the screw with a less worn one from an old, junk ligatu=

of the same general type. If you don't have one, you can probably get a
screw free from a music store or repair shop, where they have drawers ful=
l
of old stuff.
For what it's worth, a month or so ago on one of the lists, someone said
that Harold Wright bought a new Bonade inverted ligature each year, becau=
se
they tended to stretch out and lose resilience. Kal Opperman told me the=
same thing.
I wonder if string also loses it. =
