May 27th: CSO principal guest conductor Pierre Boulez returned to Chicago
last month for a sequence of performances that included the U.S. premiere
of Elliott Carter's Clarinet Concerto; the orchestra's assistant-principal
clarinetist, John Bruce Yeh, was the soloist. On the second half of the
program, Boulez conducts the orchestra in Mahler's Symphony No. 1.
