My suggestion on this dillema would be to find a recording. Better than
that, find several recordings. That's the best way to determine how the
piece should be played, and will help you choose how to interpret it. IF
you can't find recordings, get the accompaniment (although this is just
as hard to find, as we've recently established). The accompaniment will
concrete the mood that you're thinking of (after all, I can play a piece,
and think it sounds somewhat light hearted, where Josh can play it, and
say that he thinks it's a little melancholy - having the accompaniment
will allow you to know who's right...in the case of me and Josh...me!
Ha!).

As for David Hite's editing...go with the tempo for now. Best suggestion
I can give. His editing is generally okay, as far as I can tell. I mean,
it's not BAD, by any means, except for the breath marks every two notes...
