Well, once again the Florida All-State Band Music is out and I am, once
again, going to ask your advice on the following exercises from the Rose
Book (32 Etudes for Clarinet)

Etude 16 Allegretto (measures 1-28)
Etude 19 Adagio (all)

I am really baffled with #16 because David Hite gives a tempo marking of
quarter note equals 63 in his book and I find this to be very slow.
Usually his tempos seem ok to me and I have usually had problems working
an etude up to the tempo marking, not playing it too fast. Any ideas on
what the correct tempo is, or is Hite on the mark?

Any advice you could give me concerning interpretation, style, phrasing,
tempo, dynamics, and the like would be very much appreciated!

Thanks very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,
