I've only been overseas twice. Once was to the USA. I, and my fellow
ensemble members, had no problems practising in hotel rooms. That is, up
to a time at night when iot would be inconsiderate.

I have travelled throughout the south east of Queensland in Australia
performing at Eisteddfods. I still managed to be able to practise in rooms
at motels and hotel without any problems from management.

I think that if you feel the need to practise in your hotel/motel room, go
for it!!! What other people think at that particular time is their
problem. If management speak to you, sure be polite and sit in a park or
your hire car and practise. But, your obviously in that hotel/motel room
because of your chosen profession and you need to keep your skills at peak
condition at all times.

So the moral of the story is, you need to practise, wherever you are, but
make sure that it is at a resonable hour.

Rodger Graham-Wilson.
