The best chance of getting a mechanism that feels the same or nearly the same
is to stick with the same brand. So I would recommend that you get a
Yamaha plastic for your marching or backup horn.
I own three clarinets, each a different brand. They each feel different to the
hand. This does not particularly bother me as I adjust in a few minutes of
playing. However, I certainly understand your problem. I feel that way about
cars. When I travel on business, I have to get rental cars and the difference
in
feel and handling drives me absolutely nuts!
