Symphony Maestro? An Orchestra Conductor of one of the Orchestras I play
with gets $95,000 a season (in addition he is the Asst. Conductor of one of
the big 5 Orchs., so he gets a lot more for that I would think). The season
is about 20-30 concerts. $5-7000 week seems to be the going rate in the
Phila area for the Union/Professional Sym. jobs. Of course that is for a
limited number of weeks. I had heard the Solti was getting around 1 million
a season conducting Chicago.
Full time Orchestra players range from $25,000 to $90,000 aprox. depending
on the Location/Orchestra, and other recording monies. There are also a lot
of other Orchestras that pay on the low end also, and have a very limited
season.

Subject: Symphony Maestro - income
Hello all!
I am doing a research paper on being a symphony maestro for my Personal
Economics career report. Does anybody know the income of this job for a major
orchestra? What are the starting wages? What can it go up to? Any
information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
