AH, I'm going to hit myself!!! How did I forget the horns!!! Yes, I
write for Horn in my Military and Orchestral pieces, and I write for
Euphonium in my military pieces. (Just had a brain fart!);-) I do NOT write
for horn in my wind ensemble pieces, it has always been my personal opinion
that they don't blend well in that small ensemble (don't get me wrong, I
love the horn!); if you disagree, then that's allright with me. Different
opinions is why we have different styles of composition.
As for the trumpets, I have never been particulary fond of the sound of
the cornet; but I'm always willing to experiment. I'll try using the two
instruments, try to utilize thier tone colors; which I agree are uniquely
different.
