32 Bb Clarinets
3 Eb Alto Clarinets
5 Bass Clarinets
1 Bb Contrabass Clarinet

Total = 41

This is over the entire 1952-53, 1953-54 seasons......

Where did you get your information, and for what event did he do this?
Could he have combined two bands - as he did in 1971 with the Concert Band
and the Symphony Band....? They were then 230 strong.....and the combined
clarinets would have been 60.....but that was not for a usual event....it
was a promotional event that was to kick off the end of a shared concert
between the two groups.
