You should be _more_ embarrased that you didn't go look it up in a
dictionary! But since I'm in a good mood, I'll tell you what Webster's
New World Dictionary says:
1) voice practice in which scales are sung to the sol-fa syllables;
solmization
2) the use of these syllables in singing, esp. in reading a song, etc.
at sight
And of course, the semi-circular definition of solmization:
solfeggio, or any similar use of a system of syllables in singing.
