Line, here is a simpler solution than retrofitting your whole case. Just
purchase a small amount of soft foam block (or keep some from packaging
materials you might have). Cut a small block to fit the gap in your case. You
probably won't need more than an "ice cube" size piece. Cover it with the
velvet that was recommended by another Klarinet member. The velvet is
expensive by the yard but you will need less only a few dollars' worth. Don't
forget to check the remnant table at the fabric store for bargains. You should
be able to buy velvet in the same color as your case lining. Although other
glues would probably work. I use contact cement to cover the foam inserts with
velvet. I use two black velvet covered foam blocks to secure my C clarinet in
its Bb clarinet case! I can easily use the case for a Bb clarinet by removing
the blocks. (They store nicely in the case's accessory compartment.)
