Friends,
I've recently discovered the joys of Devienne's Six duos for clarinet and
bassoon, Op.21. They are wonderful classical gems, both challenging and
rewarding, and I'm very fortunate to be able to play them with a terrific
bassoonist. They compare favorably with the Beethoven duos and are somewhat
more involving, great studies in articulation. If you can play all six in
one session, you have chops of STEEL. The only drawback is the price of the
sheet music, the 1990 Amadeus edition for $31. It's a very clean edition, not
over edited in the articulation department. The parts are very equal, so
finding an interested bassoonist or even a cellist, shouldn't be too
difficult.

BTW Donato's pizza is a great meeting place in Columbus, the pitchers of beer
are enormous, and the Founder's Favorite is an amazing pizza.
