We take a few minutes to tune to the soprano clarinet or oboe. Then we
play concert Bb, random note, concert Bb, random note, .... We do this
several times until the pitch "settles". The worse the random note
sounds, the quick the band gets closer to pitch. I guess the contrast is
what gets everyone's ear in tuning mode.

The other thing is once the band is in "tune", have the saxes jump the
octave while everyone is holding the Bb. This will assist them in getting
their pitch on the money.
