Subj: [kl] a reed question and Re: [kl] Anti-alto clarinet forces
Date: Wed, 13 May 1998 17:07:08 -0400

i don't own one, but i our school's only wooden clarinet, which
happens to be an alto. I just started using Vandoren reeds instead of
Rico(reek-o)s, but i don't really hear the difference. It sounds good
until i try to switch into the third register, then if i get a note
instead of a squeek, it's so sharp. probably all just me. I like it
too, but nobody ever hears me. I think I'm playing loud, but i guess
I'm not, or I don't carry. I sit by the oboes, and sometimes they
don't even hear me. I have never gotten it to sound like my sax. I
get to play the ContraAlto on the wind ensamble piece now too. Do
bari sax reeds fit the contraAlto mouthpiece? I've never played
contra before. Maybe they'll hear the nice low sound now. I need to
get the reed tonight, so if u r reading this and know the answer,
please get back to me quickly. Thank you kindly.
