I have found that the use of a Rovner-style ligature helps in this area a
great deal. Not only is the mouthpiece switch easier, I *think* I sound
better.

It's a good solution, too, for the "how to tune" problem on saxophone. I
hate having my reed go "spung" any time I want to fix the pitch.

I gave up. My Bb is beautiful. My A is beautiful. They each have a custom
barrel. I learned to make moutpiece switches very quickly and accurately
instead of putting up with intonation and response problems from barrel-
switching.

With the right fit, some good slimy corkgrease, and the right hand motion, I
can pop my mouthpiece back and forth without wrecking the reed position
almost
as quickly as I used to do barrel changes.

Besides, it puts life on the edge a bit more... :)
