I'd just say that my wrists are above average - they're far stronger and
more endurant (is that a word?) than my biceps. I practice Muay Thai, and
typically, you block punches and kicks with the forearm. They're no
strangers to pain. ^_^

If you do long gigs and you wanna build up your wrist, practice holding a
gallon of water in your hands without bending the wrists for a few minutes
a day. Mind you, I don't suggest doing it a lot. I won't play long gigs
on bari without a strap unless forced to (someone usually has an extra
strap). Tenor, alto, and low clarinets aren't as straining, so I don't
worry too much - I've heard that Dolphy has performed bass standing up
without a peg or a strap.

I use the Neotech foam strap - I don't really care for harnesses. Not
enough room for movement - gotta move when I groove!
